Learn how to harvest rainwater for all your garden needs and to combat stormwater pollution in your community by constructing a rain barrel! Keep organic kitchen and yard waste out of landfills while adding nutrients back into your soil by composting!

The City of Strongsville, Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District and Cuyahoga Solid Waste District will host a rain barrel and composting workshop on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 beginning at 6:00 PM at the City of Strongsville's Ehrnfelt Recreation Center.

A rain barrel is a container used to collect and store rainwater that would otherwise be lost to runoff and likely diverted to a storm drain. Collected water may then be used to water lawns and gardens.Particpants wishing to construct a rain barrel to take home must register by June 15. The $60 rain barrel fee includes instruction and all materials, including a 60-gallon barrel and a downspout diverter. Registration is required to purchase a rain barrel.

Composters available for purchase at the workshop include the Wishing Well Composter and the Ultimate Dirt Machine Digester. Each composter costs $50. Pre-registration is not required to purchase a composter. Payment may be made at the workshop with cash or check.

There is no charget to attend the workshop to listen and learn.
