Thanksgiving truly is my favorite holiday. There is so much to be thankful for during this time of year; family, friends, and health to name just a few. It’s a time when families, friends, and even strangers gather to share a meal and company. During this time remember to pause for a moment and reflect on Earth, this rock on which we float through space, and everything it provides to us.
I offer this haiku.
Bountiful harvest!
Productive soil; clean water
Give thanks to nature
While giving thanks is important in its own right I also like this time of year because it means Thanksgiving dinner. For many years now my wife and I have been fortunate enough to host Thanksgiving dinner for the extended family. We cook most of the typical items ourselves while some folks provide side dishes. My special contribution is a pecan pie. Below is a link to the recipe, courtesy of Alton Brown @ Food Network, which has been quite a hit. The unique twist is using spiced pecans to balance the sweetness of the sugary filling.
Enjoy!
