FOEC September Update

Dear FOEC Friends,

I hope some of you were able to tune into the Cleveland Sustainability Climate Change program. We are waiting for the video link for those who missed it. The FOEC/Euclid Creek Watershed Program semi-annual newsletter will be coming to you shortly either by mail or email. Please note the summary of our Euclid Creek Water Monitoring presentation is in that newsletter. If you don't get one let me know.

Our board members and volunteers keep coming up with great ideas for projects and we are nearing completion on some on-going ones.

Conservation - Neil Barrett, conservation volunteer, has written an informational update for the neighbors of the Dusty Goldenrod Preserve. Once it is complete he plans to walk it around the neighborhood himself. It's an opportunity to talk to them about the importance of protecting the preserve.

Marketing - As you know, marketing is charged with finding ways to help get out educational information and promote our organization throughout the watershed. Our Marketing Chair, Jim Juknialis, is working on two projects. Jim is going to produce some podcasts with Natalie Keyerleber promoting FOEC to radio, area news, etc. In addition, the committee is investigating a mass mailing with an educational letter, FOEC notepad, and our brochure to residents living close to the creek. That project would be paid for through our 2020 Regional Sewer District grant. Attached is our educational brochure that will be mailed.

Education - It is very difficult to plan activities for next year as no one knows what the status of the Covid crisis will be. We more than likely will not be able to develop a set "Save the Date" calendar yet. We will do what we can until things become more clear. To finish off this year we are still planning on a restricted walk in the Dusty Goldenrod Preserve hoping to video plants in bloom. We should be able to have Chris Vild do a limited tree walk in October. If something interesting comes up we can always have zoom education sessions.

Membership - Friends of Euclid Creek Membership Chair, Natalie Keyerleber, is also a Cleveland Metroparks Certified Watershed Steward. Natalie was featured in the Watershed Volunteer Program Newsletter as the Spotlight Volunteer this month. Congratulations Natalie!

Because of the Covid crisis we are short on helpers. Below are some of the help we need.

- A videographer.

- A publicity helper.

- Help in the conservation areas.

Please let me know if you would like to help with any of these opportunities.
