Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District is working with Chagrin River Watershed Partners and West Creek Conservancy to develop a watershed management plan for the Cahoon Creek-Porter Creek watershed. The plan, called a Nonpoint Source Implementation Strategy (NPS-IS for short) will formally identify causes and sources of water quality and habitat degradation in the watershed and recommend overall strategies and specific projects to address these issues. In addition to Cahoon and Porter Creeks, the plan will address Sperry Creek, Spencer Creek, Wischmeyer Creek and other areas that drain to Lake Erie.

As part of the process for developing these plans, we are holding to public Open House events. The purpose of these meetings is to both explain the process to the community, and to gather information and ideas from the community about the watershed. These are scheduled for Tuesday, October 30 at the North Olmsted Library and Monday, November 5 at the Bay Village Library. Both events run from 6:30-8:30pm.

Also, there is an online survey that you can take to provide some of the same information we’ll be looking for at the Open Houses. The link is https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JFWDWCF.
