Backyard Habitat Stewards

National Wildlife Federation Backyard Habitat Stewards

Each Spring, the district teams up with the National Wildlife Federation to host the NWF Backyard Habitat Stewards program. This program is a series of six classes designed to teach participants how to help people in their community create and restore wildlife habitat in backyards, schoolyards and other private and public areas. Completion of this course certifies the participant as a NWF Habitat Steward.

The district recently began a shorter course called Introduction to Creating Backyard Habitats which covers creating wildlife-friendly habitat, promoting a more sustainable backyard and share information about how participants can make a difference for wildlife in their community. This course does not certify the participant as a NWF Habitat Steward.
