Watershed Champion Program

Are you a steward in the watershed? Do you want to be? Take our pledge and become a Watershed Champion!

A watershed is an area of land that drains all the streams and rainfall to a common outlet such as the outflow of a reservoir or lake, mouth of a bay, or any point along a stream or creek channel. Watersheds can be as small as a footprint or large enough to encompass all the land that drains water into rivers that drain into the Great Lakes, which ultimately enter the Atlantic Ocean.

Everyone lives in a watershed, and in Cuyahoga County everyone lives in the Lake Erie watershed. Because of this watershed connection, our activities at home, at school at work and throughout the community directly impact not only Lake Erie, but also our local waterways.

Want to know more about the watershed you live in? Locate your local watershed here.

Take action in your yard, by the creek, and in your community to become a Watershed Champion!

Pledge to take at least 3 watershed friendly actions in your yard and at least one action in your community to earn your very own Champion sign!

The pledge is available online or you can use this pdf version to print and mail a copy to the Watershed Program Manager.

Not quite ready to take the pledge but want to share with us what you are doing to help your local watershed? Let us know on our Individual Acts of Conservation campaign!
