HUTC-Urban Forestry RFQ Questions & Answers

Q1. How will tree warranties be handled in cases where a community requires planting specifications that the contractor is not comfortable implementing or with which the contractor disagrees?

A1. Warranties will be a line item in the RFP,a nd more details regarding warranty requirements will be provided there.  Planting specifications will be provided by Cuyahoga SWCD in the RFP, and communities and contractors will be expected plant trees and warrantly ther work in accordance with those specifrications.

Q2. The requirement to provide 3 years of maintenance for newly planted trees can sometimes be a burden for applicants who are unable to forcast fundig for their forestry operations that far into the future.  Will this establishment period maitenance be covered by the program?

A2. It is improtant to Cuyahoga SWCD and our HUTC program partners that communities and organizations particpating in the HUTC program are committed to maintaining and caring for trees planted through the program. We will include a line item for establishment mainteanance in the RFP as a bid option, ut this will only be awarded if funding allows and in under special circumstances.
