Native Plants

WHY NATIVE PLANTS

Using native plants in your landscaping helps to preserve the biodiversity of our region. Native plants are adapted to our climate and require less water or fertilizer (if any). Their roots often extend deep into the ground preventing soil erosion while providing organic matter to the soil. Native plants attract wildlife and increase diversity in our landscape all while reducing the threat of non-native plant species.

Cuyahoga SWCD offers a variety of information and resources to help bring more native plants to your property. Our annual native plant, seed, tree, and shrub sales offer residents an opportunity to easily purchase native plants best suited for their yard and maintenance abilities. Follow the link below to see all the native plants and seeds we currently have available for purchase.
