Brian Hertvik

Born and raised near Lake Erie, Brian spent his summers boating its waters, developing a deep connection to the lake and its surrounding watershed. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving deployments in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Following his military service in 2011, Brian moved to Colorado, where he discovered a passion for conservation while hiking and fly fishing in the Rockies.

Motivated to turn that passion into a career, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from Metropolitan State University of Denver in December 2024. Since returning home to Ohio, Brian has been dedicated to applying his education and experience to support and strengthen conservation efforts within the Lake Erie watershed.
