NATIVE TREE/PLANT/SEED SALES:
NATIVE PLANTS
Using native plants in your landscaping helps to preserve the biodiversity of our region. Native plants are adapted to our climate and require less water or fertilizer (if any). Their roots often extend deep into the ground preventing soil erosion while providing organic matter to the soil. Native plants attract wildlife and increase diversity in our landscape all while reducing the threat of non-native plant species.
PLACES TO BUY NATIVE PLANTS
This is not a comprehensive list of native plant nurseries, nor do all of these sell strictly native plants. Be sure to take your rain garden and/or native plant list with you when you go plant shopping. Larger stores often stock native plants as well.

How to grow native plants from seed:
Winter sowing seeds is great for any seed/plant but especially for those that need cold stratification to germinate. This method is easy and works well. Check out our blog series on this (the link is the third in a series but references back to the first two).
