The Trash Tote, sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association’s Sea Grant Program, is an interactive and engaging way to teach your students about the importance of keeping trash out of our marine ecosystems and includes lessons about the harmful effects of microplastics, what should and should not be at the beach, and an introduction into single-use plastics.
This kit is only available for rent. Since this kit is sponsored by ODNR, no deposit is required for rental.
The NOAA Sea Grant Trash Tote can be used with students at many different grade levels, but fits best with 3rd and 7th grade science curriculum as it aligns with the following Ohio State Science Standards:
3.ESS.3: Some of Earth’s resources are limited (water pollution)
7.ESS.1: The hydrologic cycle illustrates the changing states of water as it moves through the lithosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere.
