What are Soil Erosion Boxes?

Soil Erosion Boxes are a great tool to help students visualize the effects of erosion on water quality and landscape as well as test out various real-world mitigation strategies such as adding plants and mulching.

This model is available as a single presentation from a Cuyahoga SWCD Educator or can be rented and used by a trained educator. A $25 refundable deposit is required for rental. 

The Streamulator Model can be used with students at many different grade levels, but fits best with 4^th and 7^th grade science curriculum as it aligns with the following Ohio State Science Standards:

4.ESS.3: The surface of Earth changes due to erosion and deposition.

7.ESS.1: The hydrologic cycle illustrates the changing states of water as it moves through the lithosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere (erosion).
