Under Ohio EPA’s Stormwater Program, communities in urbanized areas of Ohio are required to meet a number of Minimum Control Measures (MCMs) to reduce pollution to our local waterways. Two of these MCMs- #4- Construction Site Runoff Control and #5- Post-Construction Runoff Control, require regular inspections of stormwater control measures on both active construction sites and on permanent stormwater infrastructure, respectively. Many municipalities contract with Cuyahoga SWCD to provide inspection and reporting services to ensure contractors and property owners are maintaining compliance under Ohio EPA’s Small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) permit program. Inspection reports included detailed descriptions of conditions of stormwater control measures on a site, including any potential sources of pollution and necessary remediations to ensure the measure is functioning properly.
