Throughout Cuyahoga County we rely on a network of stormwater infrastructure- a system of channels, pipes, detention basins, culverts, and other control measures- to help spread, soak, and slow stormwater runoff from buildings, sidewalks, roadways, and other hard, impervious surfaces. Cuyahoga SWCD works with communities and properly owners to ensure stormwater infrastructure is functioning properly and provide resources to support ongoing maintenance of permanent control measures. When properly maintained, this critical infrastructure helps reduce flooding and erosion, while protecting water quality in Lake Erie. As part of our Municipal Services, we help advise communities, developers, and property owners on appropriate and cost-effective practices and placement to optimize investments in stormwater infrastructure.
